Ralph Macchio To Change Name
With the release of the long awaited DVD version of the 1980's teen classic Karate Kid, the film's celebrated star has decided that it is time for a change. Indeed, the actor most well known for his portrayal of karate pupil Daniel Larussa is planning a change to a new name sometime this fall and is hoping to reemerge as a credible film star in a new decade.
"I'm really only thought of as an actor from the 80's," Larussa, excuse me, Macchio said, "I'm hoping to make a new name for myself in this decade, after pretty much spending the 90's just living off all the Karate Kid pussy residuals. And I think a new name is what I need."

In fact, it is hard to imagine that the change did not happen sooner. According to legend, Macchio never intended to use his real name for his burgeoning film career but instead was briefly considering the name Robert Machismo, or Ray Mags, before being convinced to keep the name by another popular film star of the day...Sylvester Stallone.
Apparently Sly, convinced the then, young actor that the name Ralph would only improve his marketability and separate him from the rest of the pack. Stallone, had been given similar advice as he began his career with the breakout role in which he also wrote the screenplay, the 1970's Academy Award winning picture, Rocky. It was hoped that Stallone might change his name before the release of the film, and he briefly flirted with the idea of changing his famous first name to Frank, but then realized that was his brother's name and might lead to confusion. Frank Stallone would of course become the greatest singer song writer of the twentieth century.
Macchio, who has not chosen a new name as of yet is hoping that the change will revitalize a stalled career and allow him to recapture some of the magic that he enjoyed with the Karate Kid series. "Really, I'm just hoping to get laid again," Larussa... dammit... Macchio said.
In fact, in a breaking story, nolaughing.com reporter Brian DiMenna is mulling over a name change of his own, with the new name down to two choices: Sylvester Stallone, and Ralph Macchio. Nolaughing.com will be having a reader poll to decide what change to make, click here to vote.
